Distinguished guests, welcome to the 1st WBSC Women's U-15 Softball World Cup in Tokyo. We are delighted to be hosting the event again in Tokyo, just two years after our sport was thrust into the spotlight at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. This is the first time that WBSC will host the U-15 Softball World Cup, and the selection of Japan and the Japan Softball Association (JSA) as the host country for this special occasion is a great honor for Tokyo 2020. It symbolizes the legacy of We feel that it is particularly meaningful that the World Cup will be held at the Komazawa Olympic Park Stadium, where many events were held during the 1964 Olympics.
The U-15 Women's Softball World Cup is part of the great women's softball competition events hosted by WBSC, including the U-18 World Cup, Senior World Cup, and the Olympics. It is always an honor to wear your country's team clothing and I know that the young people representing the 12 participating countries and territories will take part in the competition with great pride.
The global growth of softball is evidenced by the fact that this World Cup will see representation from all five continents, with seven of the top 10 teams in the world rankings qualifying for the tournament. Future star players will also appear.
Finally, I would like to thank JSA President Yutaka Miyake and Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike for their dedication to our sport throughout this tournament, as well as the JSA and WBSC for their efforts in making the tournament a success. Thank you to all the staff.
Good luck to all teams and players. And now the stage is yours.

Governor of Tokyo

Yuriko Koike

As a representative of the host city, I would like to congratulate you on the opening of the memorable 1st WBSC Women's U-15 Softball World Cup 2023 here in Tokyo.
Softball is a popular sport enjoyed by many people around the world, regardless of age or gender. Fierce competition was also held at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The memories of that excitement and excitement still come back vividly to this day.
Teams representing 12 countries and regions will participate in this tournament, aiming to be number one in the world. The hard work of the players who will carry the future will convey the charm of softball to everyone.
Furthermore, through the tournament, we hope that by deepening interactions with athletes of the same generation overseas and children in Tokyo, we will not only promote sports but also contribute to fostering a rich international mindset.
In 2025, the World Athletics and Deaflympics will be held in Tokyo. Inspiration, excitement, dreams and hopes, and connections are the common forces that sports bring. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will realize ``a future of Tokyo where everyone can shine and be inclusive'' through ways to enjoy sports, such as ``doing,'' ``seeing,'' and ``supporting.''
I would like to conclude my greetings by expressing my deep respect to everyone involved in organizing the event, and wishing all the athletes good luck and a successful tournament.

Yutaka Miyake

We are truly delighted that the 1st WBSC Women's U15 Softball World Cup 2023 will be held here in Setagaya and Ota wards, Tokyo. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone involved for their efforts in organizing the event.
Congratulations to all the teams from 12 countries and regions who won the right to participate in this memorable tournament by passing through tough qualifying rounds on each continent. I would like to extend my warmest welcome and congratulations. I am sure that this tournament, which you will experience when you are young, will be a source of inspiration for your life. Please make the most of the results you have practiced so far and expand your circle of exchange with like-minded people around the world. And between games, enjoy the culture and sights of Tokyo, where cutting-edge technology and centuries of history intertwine.
We hope that everyone watching will enjoy the youthful and lively play in this tournament, which will determine the world's best in the women's 15 and under category, and give a big round of applause to the players' great play.
In closing, I would like to once again thank the WBSC for their guidance, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government for co-hosting the event, and the many people who provided support, cooperation, preparation, and management. I would like to express my gratitude and greet you.
